Ramadan Checker Day 30
وداعا يا رمضان
إسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Hey guys, Anticlimactic, isn't it? Bidding the month farewell, And getting excited for Eid? It is bitter sweet, I'll say. Alhamdulillah for being amongst those chosen to witness its start and finish.
Alhamdulillah for those who were called back to Allah, and to Him shall we all return, those who preceded us in good, May Allah forgive them and those with us and those who will succeed us, may Allah preserve them and us upon khair, ameen.
I had a bunch of ideas on what I wanted the last checker to be about, extending from making a leaking bucket list on mannerism, habits and things about ourselves to be in the look out for and curb, a recount of how my Ramadan was, the difference between it and the previous ones, this time I can really tell lol Alhamdulillah, that one's quite personal, isn't it? Might bore a bunch of you. Post Ramadan Iman uppers... but now, my heart's at a place.
Perhaps Shukr is that place.
So, perhaps we can talk about all of those at another time, a more suitable time, bi idhnillah.
In sha Allah, I'll call our attention instead to that place I'd mentioned earlier, Gratitude to Allah, and ways we can express it,to warn us about what feels like an impediment to all we've achieved in the past month, so it isn't all in vain.
Eid is here, a celebration for what's been accomplished, Alhamdulillah.
We'd want to watch ourselves for actions we may fall privy to, the tabarruj, the free mixing, the partying and music, the time wasters in what doesn't profit neither here nor there, and those that perhaps bring some apparent benefit there, things that entertain us but at a costly prize. Things devoid of Allah's approval and barakah.
Gratitude to Allah should be shown in ways pleasing to Him, turning a sacred day such as this to one of wanton is not how we should mark the end of Ramadan, nor usher in the blessed month of Shawwal.
Yes, by all means beautify yourself, smell nice, compliment people, give good cheer, exchange pleasantries, love, hugs, gifts and laughter. But please do so without the permissible bounds.
It has become the norm for us to expose our awrah especially on Eid, on socials, and going out in public in dresses that do not befit the occasion. This is especially a calling to us sisters, Allahu yahdeena
It is scary enough that the woman who uses perfume and walks by men who aren't mahram commits zina of the senses
It is also worrisome that we post pictures of us that do not tell of our faith. Pictures we have no idea where they get to and who has them in their possession, what they're used for.
It is scary how quick we are to forget how keenly we'd abstained from all the haraam in Ramadan, letting loose the very day we emerge from it would make it easy to go back to all we strove to be rid of, almost quite like Shaytan would emerge from his chains. Breaking free from bonds.
Let us take care to not let our religious commitment be severed by our merriment
As Ramadan leaves, the soft tapering of feet proceeding to the masajid at fajr are reduced drastically, we pray Allah makes our brothers steadfast in holding on to the khair they've been led to in the last month, so it lasts them a lifetime, and us as well, so that when we, if Allah so pleases, are blessed to be part of the next Ramadan, don't start afresh, don't struggle to get back the footing we'd lost to heedlessness, but mount on the goodness and increase in iman and taqwa
Before the khutbatul wada'(farewell pilgrimage), activities the Rasul partook in on that day, Yaumul Arafat have been reported to us for benefit, how he traveled long distance performing the rites, how he had slaughtered dozens of camels, and had given Ali RA the honor to take over from him in finishing the sacrificial rite, and how the meat had been cooked, it is known that camel meat takes the longest time, and how he then proceeded to give the farewell sermon, and all of these were done in record time, from the morning to midday, right at dhuhr.
Scholars have told that this is the difference of barakah in time at the zaaman of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, if we intend to maximize the potential of our days, we need to purify our niyyat and take on activities Rasul partook in and roles he assumed and approved of.
Cut back on pastimes, learn the deen, do not stop, there's so much refinement to be achieved in ourselves and the Ummah, avoid pointless arguments even those that seem to have an aim(remember the promise of jannah for the one who gives up arguing even if he be in the right and the one who persists in truthfulness too), end disputes amicably, and reconcile brothers fi sabilillah, maintain the ties of kinship, support a cause, enjoin good and dissuade yourself and others from evil
May Ramadan's departing from us leave us with imaan wal ihtisaab in our hearts. And may we be among the muttaqun, ameen Ya Rabbi
تقبل الله منا ومنكم
عيد مبارك 😊
